PCOS and Weightloss

I know there are a lot of PCOS sufferes on here. I was lucky that mine didn't start till after I had my kids so fertility was never and issue...but weight sure is.

My question is for those with PCOS, have you had success with the eat more to lose more philosophy?

I personally gave it a month (I know might not be long enough, but it was long enough for me as all my symptoms have returned and I hate it) I have now gone back to 1200 calories a day with high proteing low carbs and I have lost the 6 I gained eating more and I am losing again. I don't eat back exercise calories either as I don't lost when I do.

My doctor and dietician have ok'd my eating 1200 calories and exercise plan and are monitoring how I lose.

Anyhow, just looking for insight from other's with PCOS and what works for them. If you do not suffer from PCOS, please no input as you really don't know how differently our bodies work and what it takes to get rid of the excess weight that our ovaries are constantly telling us we need!

I have been recently reading boards and info on this too - I had fertility issues getting pregnant with both our boys. I am about 20 lb overweight. Even if I watch my calories, it doesn't seem to make a real dent, though adding in more frequent exercise has made a difference.

What I've been looking into has been the whole theory of low GI foods, but am having a hard time getting my arms around all the info and the right balance of foods and what foods. I have A Patient's Guide to PCOS: Understanding--and Reversing--Polycystic Ovary Syndrome by Walter Futterweit and have yet to read the whole thing bc it's so dang boring...

This is not helpful, but just wanted to let you know you were not alone in your musings and need for info!

Hiya I have PCOS to. The only ever time I lost weight was when I cut out carbs and all the sugary stuff f course.
I find all the info on it so confusing. Cutting out all carbs is apparently not healthy but whenever I look or a different way to eat I feel lost and no weight comes off.

I am worried about eatin too much fat if I go back to low carb :-(

I truly only have success with a low carb higher protein diet. And even that has become a struggle at this time.

Are you taking metformin as treatment for your PCOS? Many people say that helps them with loosing weight. I can't say it helps me a lot but I might not be at the proper dosage.

I think, like with most things, it's all about experimenting with what works for your body. Right now, I'm trying 4 hour body slow carb diet and it's doing great things for me. I don't know how I'll do outside of the first two weeks but for now, this has been a god send to me.

Best of luck to you and I hope you find something that works for you! You've lost a great deal of weight already, you must be doing something right for you!
