Exercise calories?

When i first started using MFP I was a little confused about earning calories back after you did a work out. I figured working out was to burn calories and eating them back seemed pointless. I work out every day, whether it be P90X or just going on a run, I'm always burning some sort of calories. (I also babysit two toddlers so I'm running around crazy all the time) MFP has me eating 1200 calories a day but I have been reading that eating under 1200 calories a day could actually hurt me in the long run, so I'm confused on what to do with my exercise calories. I am under my calorie goal every day because I have not been eating them back. I am currently losing a healthy amount of weight (1.5 lbs a week) a week but I don't want this to stop! Does anyone have any advise? eat back the calories or just stick to 1200 and not worry about it? Thanks for your help!

I would say keep doing what you're doing if it's working for you. I don't eat back all my exercise calories. I just log 250 for cardio and don't ever log calories for strength. Follow the MFP calorie goals and adjust as necessary according to how well you're losing weight or not. Everyone else is going to jump in and tell you you're starving yourself but I disagree. To me this is simple math. Calories in - calories burned = your weight. If you eat too little you'll start getting strong urges to binge before your body goes into some sort of metabolic shut down.

What's your height? If you're shorter then you're probably just perfect. Read this lady's explanation about her calories consumed , look at her photos and then ask yourself if you think she knows what she's talking about.

EDIT: In before the "Eat more" crowd. Yes!

Second edit: 1.5 pounds a week is agressive but depending on how many pounds you have to go it's fine. If you have less than 10 to go you might want to add more calories and take it more gradually.
