Hi. I've always been naturally on the heavy side but I got into pretty good shape in my mid 40's. When I moved to my present city and job 8 years ago and got a house and a life I started gaining, and put on 70 pounds. Last New Year's I decided it was time for a change. I'm down 45 pounds and just started using this app last week. I like knowing exactly what's in the food I eat and now I know exactly how many calories are in it. Imagine my surprise when I found out that my usual meal of lean brisket with no sides or bread at Rudy's BBQ was 1500 calories. I think knowledge is a good thing.

Funny coincidence - I too live in heavyland! Friend me if you want someone to help along the way. Take care.

Hi, I'm new to this site also- and really like it so far. I use bodymediafit as well, but there is no community support/interaction with other members on that site and a friend recommended fitness pal. I hear you on getting a life- as soon as I changed to office work I gained an unbelievable amount of weight- have yoyo'd with "quick fixes" that didn't last and am now here to do it right. I also dumped the office work for a more active occupation! Ten off before I joined- and 70 to go. Good luck to you!

knowledge really is power! i THOUGHT i had been doing relatively well, but kept putting on weight then a friend suggested this site. Once i started entering my food i realized that my portion sizes were way out of control. But i also have spent most of my life in heavyland. I have lost all the weight twice. I am using my failures as a learning curve and hoping to have long term success this time. Feel free to friend me anytime :)
