Gym equipment, squats, etc.

Does anyone know of a website that will show pictures and define various gym and weightlifting equipment? I keep finding myself at a loss as to what certain equipment is called.

There's something that looks like a barbell, but it's shorter in length, lighter, and has fixed weights at the end. The lightest one they had at my gym was about 20 lbs and it went up to 80 lbs or so. Is it ridiculous that I practiced my squat technique using that (I followed Rippetoe)? I was scared of injuring myself if I went straight to the 45lb bar for the first time. Thankfully, 20lbs was very light. 30lbs was also very light, so today I'm going to try the actual bar. :-)

If you have a smartphone, download the bodybuilding.com app. It has videos of a variety of moves and with that, you can watch them at the gym.
