Compression sleeves?

I was at a running store today buying new shoes because I've been having lots of issues with shin splints for the past couple of weeks. The guy there recommended compression sleeves and I'd like to try them. I'm getting a little overwhelmed looking at all the different brands out there. If you are a runner, what brand do you prefer and why? Thanks!

Waste of money. Focus on changing your form so that you're not heel striking which should relieve the excess stress on your shins. If anything compression sleeves used in this manner will make your form worse; maybe you'll end up with with a stress fracture?
