I am really having a hard time with weight loss!! Its so frustrating!! I do good for a week then I totally bomb it for a day or 2 on sugar rushes. Sometimes I think I should just give up and be happy with myself the way I am now since my husband says I am perfectly fine the way I am. But I am not happy with myself. I am really confused with what to eat and not what to eat. I go to the gym four times a week.. Which helps me feel better. People say not to eat any type of sugars including fruits because that sugar turns into fat. I dont really eat that much carbs.. I guess what I am trying to say is what is a healthy way to eat? I have tried eating the no suagar thing but find myself at the end of the week craving sugar that it goes out of control. Help Please!!

Good lord, eat your fruit! I love fruit, and cold sweet grapes help chase away extra cravings!
Also, if you know you can portion-control, have an oreo every day. have a frozen peppermint patty. Chew some gum. Indugle without pigging out.
This isn't about torture, it's about finding a happy place under your maintenance.0 -
I was having trouble sticking to my calories so I choose my food the night before and log it the night before too so that I have my whole day planned (including snacks) I usually to leave a little room, like 100-200 calories in case I eat something extra. This helps me stick to it because I hate deleting entries and searching for stuff all over again. Also if I eat something I haven't logged I force myself to log it before eating so I pay attention to the calorie content.0

Giving it up completely leads to cravings. Reduce the amount of sugars but don't give up fruits all together.
Portion control works over time0 -
I wouldn't cut out carbs completely, your body needs them. That's probably why you are having the bad days of eating too much. Add some healthy carbs back and hopefully, you'll be happier and lose weight at the same time.
And I agree with having a treat everyday. I'm a big fan of Skinny Cow. I love ice cream and their chocolate truffle ice cream bars are only 100 calories! Heaven!0 -

I'm sure everyone will have different advice as to what has worked for them. I'll tell you what's worked for me, and you can take any of it, or go with someone else's advice, but hopefully, you'll find something that will help you with your weight loss.
What worked best for me was logging all my foods ahead of time, sometimes I even do 5 days ahead. I almost always have old fashioned quick oatmeal with frozen or fresh blueberries for breakfast. It's quite filling, and doesn't use up very many of my daily numbers! Then I'll have salad with a low cal dressing for lunch, OR a sandwich, using 35 calorie bread, and Lay's Light Chips for lunch. I'll also have an apple or orange for dessert. Then later on I'll have a Special K bar, or Fiber One bar for a snack. Then for supper, just a regular chicken, steak, pork, normal type dinner with a potato or rice and no salt canned, or fresh veggies. I use I Can't Believe it's Not Butter spray, it's even great on corn on the cob!
And almost every night, if I've got enough numbers left, I have a snack about 8:00 of Edy's slow churned, no sugar added cookie dough icecream. I'm an icecream fanatic, and I can't tell the difference from the "real" thing!
Imagine, eating icecream almost every night, and STILL losing the weight!
MFP was the best thing that's happened to me since my son came along (26 years ago!) and finding my second husband!
I can't even express just what a life changing experience MFP has made in my life!
Hopefully you'll find it the same for you! Just keep "working" with your numbers, and it WILL happen, ok?! :flowerforyou:0 -
Fruit is THE perfect cure for a sugar craving IMO. I LOVE ripe peaches and nectarines. When I get a craving for sweets now I always turn to fruit. Besides, the sugar in fruit is WAY different than the sugar in cookies etc. I agree with the above statements as well....eat what you want as long as you stay within your caloric goal. Once you start seeing some results, you will naturally want to eat healthier and the cravings will lessen.0

AmberLee, I have ice cream nearly every day. I allow for it, budget my calories around it, and wouldn't have it any other way. I just make sure when I"m figuring out my meals that I eat lots of veggies, fruits and protein. Fruit = sugar, but the good kind!
But Snack #3, for me, is always Publix brand Moose Tracks Ice Cream-no sugar added
AND, I'm losing weight (and 2 full sizes). Don't deprive yourself of what makes the day worthwhile...even if it's a small portion or a bite here or there. You should still enjoy life!0 -
Enjoy what you eat and eat what you enjoy, but alway, always in moderation. If you are having a sugar (or chocolate) craving try having fresh fruit. Grapes, peaches, watermelon are fantastick for that sugar craving. You could even put the grapes in the freezer after you have rolled them in sugar. It will take longer to eat them that way. I have found for a chocolate craving I will eat a few bread & butter pickle slices or sweet pickles. It's amazing what items you can switch for that sweet tooth or chocolate craving. Also Bryers has come out with a yogurt ice cream it is so good it is only 120 cals for 1/2 cup. You should take one step at a time. Try and lower your bad sugar intake from things that are not natural sugar(fruit is natural sugar as long as it is fresh) Carbs is also good for you but you should be eatting complex carbs not simple carbs (think of simple carbs like candy bars, you really don't want to many of them at one time)These are only my own opnion and I hope that it can help you0
