Any suggestions on comfort food for a southern girl who loves her food??

I do try to eat healthy but I have my fallbacks. I will be making shepherds pie this weekend with ground turkey and russet potatoes but I don't know where else to go.

I have no suggestions but I would love to read some ideas. If anyone has healthy alternatives to chicken fried steak or biscuits and gravy I would love to see them.

welp, I have this issue too..
I'm no expert, but I think there are two good rules of thumb to consider:

    1. Moderation
    2. Healthy alternatives/substitutions

There are recipes out there for baked "fried" chicken, healtheir ways to do things besides slathered in butter or oil...etc. Hopefully someone will read this thread and be of more assistance

But trust me, Paula Deen is my IDOL. And there is nothing better than southern comfort food.

There is nothing better than comfort food!! I turn to it when I get upset and/or struggle with depression. I know I shouldn't but it makes me feel like I'm home and that helps alot.

I like bell peppers stuffed with rice and a tablespoon or two of cheese, just enough to let the rice get a little gooey. The cheddar flavor and moist texture is reminiscent of mac & cheese to me, except with less fat and wrapped in a good serving or two of veggies, depending on the size of the pepper.

My comfort food is a big *kitten* grilled steak. I indulge once every 2 weeks

I didn't mean any offense by my statement and will consider myself a southern girl always.
