My Husband and I are expecting our 2nd child around Christmas. We won't find out the sex of the baby until August, but we are throwing around some baby name ideas and could use a few more. He is from the Dominican Republic and I am American. We like to find names that may suit both our heritage. Any suggestions?

Since he's from the DR, is he Catholic (majority are)? You could go with Catholic names, too.

    or

    I like very traditional names.

Since we had a boy I took the grandfather's names and came up with something from those. If we would have had a girl I would have used the grandmother's names.

Any family members or friends you're close to?

    And congratulations. :)

If you find out you're having a boy, let me know. I work at an all-boys high school and have 900 students here. I could run a query and send you all their names!

Since you don't know the sex you could always go with the Saturday Night Live name............Pat

We were going to have a Charlotte if we had a girl.
I also like Sophie, Sonya and Chloe.

For boys I like Malcolm and Alexander.

Kuala Lumpur is a unique name which goes outside of the boundary for either heritage.

I am a big fan of what people call "regular" names.

Mark Walburg just named his daughter "Margaret Grace" and I thought that was wonderful.

If you have a long last name, I would give the child a short first name, my last name is so awkward that my parents didn't even give me a middle name.

Doesn't necessarily go with your heritage recommendations however....

My daughter's names are Elise Shea and Harper Pearl.

A girl I went to college with just named her daughter Hadley, which I LOVE.

Our boy name, if we ever have one, is Miles

If we have another girl, her name will be Phalen.

    My nephew's name is Hayden.

    Just a few ideas...

stick with something classic, or maybe a family name.
people are getting all crazy trying to have "creative" baby names..which end up sounding like everyone else, completely unoriginal and often really lame.

my daughter is Frankie (my grandmas name)
and my son is Devlin.. the name of a good family friend that was lost.

that is just my 2 cents.

Ava for a girl sounds nice and I think fits both DR and American cultures. For a boy James very American but it's my fav guy name. Best of Luck!
