Excuses?

My excuses why I didn’t want to run this morning:
-it’s the morning and I absolutely hate mornings and never can wake up
-it was 86 degrees and 70% humidity
-I have a running injury (but am allowed to "jog")
-I have a sore throat that feels as dry as the Sahara Desert
-I have a chest cold and am coughing up yuck
-back hurts from the chest cold and injury

They seemed like valid excuses, right?... Did I go for a 2.5 mile jog that included a tiny bit of walking? Did I feel great the whole time? Am I glad that I did it?? Yes, No, Yes

Now today if you try to think of an excuse why you can't workout, ask yourself... is this REALLY a valid excuse? (Of course there are valid excuses like health issues etc) but other than that, do you have even 25 minutes that you can really say you couldn't spare today? Take this to the heart and get out there and work it! Even for a walk!
Now go do it! :-)

    WTG! Break that barrier!
  • Good post, its so easy to have an excuse for why not, when all you are doing is letting yourself down. Good luck with your goals

Awesome! I'm afraid that it really doesn't take that much to talk me out of a work out. I was really exhausted and had a bad headache this morning. The only thing that got me to do my workout was the desire to put a sticker on my calendar (I'm afraid that I am just like a five year old when it comes to sticker charts:blushing: ) Way to go on getting out there for your run/jog!

#2 is the only thing that will stop me from doing my runs. I just can't run in hot weather. I tried to do my lunchtime run today. Here it is 80 degrees with 40% humidity and the only place I could run today is 100% noon time sunlight. I went out planning to run for 30 mins, but had to cut that in half because I just couldn't do it. I HATE hot weather. How do you get past that?

My cold did loosen up when i jogged! it always does but of course starting out is hard cuz it's so hard to breathe and I forget that it loosens it up, thanks for the reminder (and realization of it)!!
I battled the heat because it was hot the last 2 days and I couldnt be idle anymore and it's supposed to rain tonight so that was not an option.. although might help speed work since I wouldnt want to be struck by lightning! I also have a 5k coming up on July 4th so i'm trying to train more in the heat and humidity in case it is that way that day. I was planning on going for an age group record until my injury (piriformus) so that broke me into the heat real quick when I was training hard a few weeks ago.
and to cricketkate... when i was in weightloss i had a similar calendar!!! i had smiley faces i would draw and everyday had to have an activity or a "valid excuse" like stomach virus... i never wanted the frowny face.. that meant no excuse and i had like 2 of them a month, one month i had 3... (yea i'm a little scarred from that month and also act like a 5 year old). That calendar was my pride and joy during weight loss! I recommend everyone gets one!
