realistic goal setting

So I just changed my goal weight to halfway where I would like to be. Hoping that will help. Originally I thought that making my dream weight my goal would be inspiring enough to motivate me but losing 100 pounds was feeling a little overwhelming...

How do you set a weightloss goal?

My first goal was to lose 50 lbs and put me basically right back to where I weighed when I got married. Then 70 lbs would put me in the 260's which I thought Id be happy at. I was wrong... once I hit 80 lbs I decided while 80 lbs was great, 100 sounded so much better. 8 more lbs to go for 100. My last goal is 110 lbs lost and done. I never really had a this is what I wanted to weigh goal. TBH I never thought Id stick with this for more then a few months. :)

I see no issues with setting smaller goals at first. It always feels good when you make a goal no matter what the size is.

I thought I wanted to loose 30 lbs but I've lost so many inches and dress sizes that now I'm trying NOT to lose any more weight. Goal for me is looking in the mirror and just being happy with what i see. Not the number on the scale or even the tape measure. Being happy with me and my body. :)

I agree that setting a smaller goal at first is a great idea. Feel the success and keep it moving. You'll change it as you go along and that is ok and natural.

I need to lose about 115 more pounds. I set my goal weight as a 10% loss from my starting weight, then when I hit that, I reset it for another 10% loss from that weight. Seeing 25 pounds to go is much easier than seeing 115 pounds to go because it sounds obtainable
