I have recently (over this past year) lost 70 or so pounds. Im really proud of myself but also wonder if I will ever truly be happy in my skin. I am within my healthy weight range (145 lbs and 5'9) but I still look in the mirror and see a overweight person. Anyone else still have the "fat person" mentality? And if so when does one finally start feeling good in their own skin?

That sounds like body dysmorphia. Maybe not severe but still.... You might want to read up on it and see if you think yours is severe enough to warrant counselling. :flowerforyou:
(I mean that in SUCH a nice way, please don't take it in a mean fashion!!)0 -
There was a whole string of messages on this just last week. Let me see if I can find them.0

WOW, great for you!!!!!
I don't have much advice - I'm still a overweight person with a realistic overweight-person-mentality. LOL Mine fits
Just wanted to tell you congratulations, that's a fantastic move you've made and held onto.

I get this. I'm the same way. I know I'm healthy, but for some reason, on some days, I step on the scale, and it' snot enough.0 -
I think it's normal to feel that way about yourself. I mean, you are your own worst critic. If you see yourself that way, It might help if you ask others how they see you. That might help to hear it from others to reassure your mind that you do look good and you are not overweight. It's not your body that needs work, it's your though process.
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter, don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter." -Dr. Seuss
Just by looking at your pic, I think you look great. If you're still not happy, try some weight training and muscle toning, maybe that'll help.0 -
Hi, it is very common to still see the old person in the mirror. I don't know how long that lasts though.
It is mind over matter (or mirror in this case). You know that you are the weight you want to be. Maybe looking at old pictures of yourself before you lost the weight and then looking in the mirror will show you how different you look. Anyways, don't give up. I did because I couldn't see any difference and I had lost over 40 pounds. Guess what? I ended up gaining it all back and then some. Now, I am working on it again but this time I am looking at it from a different perspective. I am going to get healthy and I will know that I am losing weight when I have to start buying smaller sized clothes. I think your health is the most important. I wish you the best.0 -

It may take time but Im hopeful it will happen!! Thanx again,eh!!0
