Im looking for a protein shake to take as a supplement to my current diet... Not as a meal replacement. Mainly, I am looking for something as a post work out type of thing that is good for helping muscles... I went to the local health food store, and there were literally 1000 different types and flavors... i asked the kid behind the counter and he had no clue... What are some good inexpensive brands that will work for my needs... Also keep in mind that I will not be blending these at home, I will make tehm at work with out a blender... Any ideas?

There are so many good ones but the main thing to focus on is the amount of protein and low sugars and fat. I like pure protein that has a couple different flavors that are actually tasty if you add some fruit to them, naturally sweetening. You can experiment but I found that pure protein had the most amount of protein for the least fat and sugars along with it.0

I use phd pharma whey, chocolate cookie flavour. Tastes good, and I bought a cheap shaker bottle thing too, so no blender. Search phd pharma whey on mfp for content and calories, but I really like it!0

I've only used two different brands, so I can only offer advice on those two. The first (Top Secret Nutrition) was way too thick and it definitely needed a blender. The second one (AllMax IsoFlex), which I currently use, shakes really well and is slightly thicker than water. I get the chocolate version, no terrible after taste and you can easily chug it. You'll have to check around on the prices though to see if it fits your definition of inexpensive.0

I make mine at work too, so I need to make sure that my powders "shake" well, since I use a shaker to "blend" it up. After trying many different powders, I find that my absolute favorite (Both in taste, price and nutritional value) is the Isopure Cookies and Cream. It shakes up very well, and the taste is delicious. I usually mix it up with some unsweetened Vanilla almond milk and really cold water.
Make sure to look at the cholesterol content of your protein powder... there are some that taste great (the "dessert" lines of some products) but the cholesterol is absolutely insane...Another perk about the Isopures, are that they are zero carb/2 scoops.
Hope you find the right protein powder for you!0 -
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard is one of the better ones... well priced and good flavor... high in protein.
They have it with sucralose as the added sweetener and then a natural one sweetened with stevia0 -
get a blender bottle like 7$, ON is really good the extreme milk chocolate tastes just like chocolate milk. Flavor really doesnt matter by the time you finish the jar you will be tired of it and get a different one next time.0

I've tried a bunch of different ones and Dymatize is by far my favorite! Especially the cookies and cream, cappuccino rush, and peanut butter chocolate flavors.0

www.Prosource.net
They have everythng, but if you want something cheap, good, and tasty, get ProSources "Nitrowhey - Chocolate Mint" (its also an additional 20%off right now... a $100 container is about $37) I used to manage a supplement shop so I know about a lot of the different brands. There are some probably a little better (for you, not taste wise), but this is definitely the best bang for your buck!
Oh, also - You cant always trust the "kid behind the counter" because a lot of those places pay on a commission based on the product, so someone may act like they know it all, but could just be selling you what makes them more money... not all of them, but just know that.0 -
I see. I d have a blender bottle, no worries there. I guess I'll just have to try some. Thanks for the help!0
