Calorie and BMR question

I have been using MFP continuously for the last two weeks. I have seen very little weight loss (maybe 1 pound) overall and I am wondering if I have my calorie goal set too low. My BMR is 1760, and I have my settings to lose 2 lbs a week so MFP has set my calorie goal at 1360 per day. I also have my diary open if that helps for giving suggestions, and also I am a 25 year 5'4 female at a weight of 227. I am just looking for suggestions to start losing weight and keeping it off. Thank you in advance for your responses.

You say you've SEEN little weight loss. Have you actually weighed in? I know when I just started I lost a ton of weight fast but results still come so slow. No matter how hard you work, it's all about patience when it comes to transforming your body. Just still with it.0

I weigh myself when I go to the gym every other day, which might be too often and making me impatient...0

Take measurements!!! I didn't lose anything in the beginning but lost 2 inches off my waist in the first month, I also notice if I am working out everyday or so that I lose weight faster if I eat at my BMR or around it. MFP has me set at 1200 but I eat back most of my exercise calories everyday, so i'm not netting my BMR but am at least eating that much.0

So you eat all of your BMR calories.. Should I be eating the 1760 then?0 -
I weight myself every couple days, but my diet causes me to lose water weight which allows for a speedier loss initially, that helps motivate me. That may benefit you. As for frequency of weighing, just don't be obsessive. Like I said, it all takes time. Perhaps weigh yourself weekly? It's whatever works for you. lol0

I've been reading these forums forever and so many people say to do that, I was starving eating 1200 without much energy to exercise and not really losing, so I've been trying it and it's working well for me right now, couldn't hurt for you to try it, especially if you're working out a lot, my body needs the extra energy.0 -
How much are you looking to lose to get to your goal? I would generally say not to start off trying to lose 2lbs a week unless you've got a lot to lose. Knowing your TDEE and BMR are pretty important for weight loss. Eating at a deficit of your TDEE will help you drop the weight. If your BMR is 1760 you should be eating at LEAST that everyday as that is what your body needs for all your major organs to function. Figure out your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and eat at a 15-20% deficit of it and you will lose! There is a lot of info about this in the MFP group 'Eat More to Weigh Less'. The title is a little deceiving as it does not mean 'stuff your face silly and you will lose weight' but rather not eating under your BMR. If you start at the lowest amount of calories and you hit a plateau where do you go from there if you are already at the lowest you can go!?!? Definitely check out that group. A wealth of info there!
