Multi-gym resistance machines

Are they worth it? I've done a search trying to find some topics in regards to these machines but haven't been able to find much unfortunately. I'm interested in starting to do some weight training and have found a really good deal on a NordicTrack multi-gym machine. I was interested in another machine a month or so ago but found it to be way to big for the space I have and it sold before I could check it out. Now I've found another one that I think has more functions/exercises to do on it. My goal is to loose weight, build some muscle (without the bulk but a nice toned look) to make my body stronger and look good. I have a treadmill that I use for my cardio but really want to get into some weight training. Would this machine give me the results I'm looking for and if it will, what kind of a weight lifting routine should I do? I'm kind of at a loss with this. I'm not a gym type person and would rather work out in the privacy of my own home. Can someone give me some info/help, tips, anything really on these machines?
