Mods are completely arbitrary...letting some posters/threads get completely crazy, and then locking a thread, or penalizing posters that are nowhere near as inflammatory as others. Stupid mods! Poopheads!
I'm sure it has a lot to do with what gets seen/reported and what doesn't.0 -
I think too many people(poopheads)don't realize or choose to understand that this is a public forum...if you don't like it, don't look at it/read it!
Live and let live!

Yep.
I got a strike for it...though she (the mod) couched it in some lame excuse of me quoting some kid and complimenting him on the maturity of THAT post, for which he thanked me.

Hi Folks,
I just wanted to address the issue of the mods and Staff arbitrarily picking post to moderate and are "trigger" happy. We work very hard to moderate lightly. We would first like to edit a post, if a post is not editable we will lock the post with an explanation, if the post is a complete violation or train wreck we will delete the post. We are a very small team of Staff moderators and volunteer moderators, and therefore we rely heavily on the users to report post that are in violation. With that being said, just because a post is reported does not mean any action is taken. Every post is reviewed and compared to guidelines. If a guideline is violated we then proceed with how to address the issue. Like I said we are very small team and work hard to improve many other areas of the customer experience, while moderating when need be.
I hope this helps to assuage any issues and I would be more then happy to address any questions related to this.
Cheers,
Scott

Scott, the deleting of threads is a minor annoyance. The moderators randomly enforcing rules is much more annoying. Add to that that ONE OF THE STRIKES JULES WAS GIVEN was for saying MY brain was sexy...in a fun, chit-chat thread full of derails and hijacks...and you've got a serious joke on your hands, as well as a recipe for moderators being (rightfully in some cases) disrespected.
Sara lost all respect from me when she chose to give me a strike for pulling a quote out of a young mans post on a separate thread, telling him that THAT post was incredibly mature, and that if he would tailor the majority of his posts to suit, he would get much farther in the forums.
HE THANKED ME.
Next thing I know I'm being berated and handed a strike in PM's by Sara for insulting him, posting his personal insecurities up for public (umm, he posted them first?) view and judgment, and overall attacking and belittling him.
I'm sorry. And if you'd like to hand me a strike for it...feel free.0 -

Nothing against Scott personally...but I highly doubt he'll reply...and if he does it'll be in the format of a pre-written PC disclaimer...much like the first comment was.
Jules is a sweetheart. She is funny, caring, helpful...the list goes on. She is an ASSET to this forum. Believe me...I should have been on the list of people to be removed LONG before her...if only for the fact that I'm not the least bit intimidated by forum admins, and will tell them (invariably), when I think they're being idiots. But see, I don't have a pack of jealous, self righteous women trying to censor my profile pictures...so most of my comments (honest as they are), fly under the 'MFP' radar.

I certainly appreciate where you and everyone is coming from. I am not aware of the case you are referring too but I will definitely look into with our team. As I said before the idea behind our moderation is simple. If a post is reported, we look to see if it is a violation. If it is we look to take the least "intense" route possible. Perfect example, your post I have quoted above. No need to delete it, your general message is perfectly acceptable and by no means is a violation. Your quote below,I'm sorry. Bull****. And if you'd like to hand me a strike for it...feel free.
just needs to be edited. Since swearing even with the asterisk, is against the guidelines, number 17. We would also warn you for this in most cases (I will not here as it serves no purpose). The idea behind a warning is not a threat, or weapon of power that we have inherited and wish to use whenever we can, it is mainly used to track the activity and violations that have occurred. If you continue to amass strikes, we then venture into the block territory, but no need to go there now.
Does this clear it up for you? If not let me know.

I understand that. It doesn't explain my strike however, nor Jules regarding me (I don't know which you were referring to looking into. I'd much rather see Jules strike rescinded, to be honest...though neither was deserved.0 -

Also, jules has been struck off for being green and complementing someone's brain so I'd very much approve of seeing her ban lifted.0 -

As I have promised Jules, we will review it as soon as everyone is back at the office. Tomorrow. Until then I really can not do anything. @crisanderson2 can you let me know the date of your violation?
