Does grain free and running mix?

I have been considering going grain free but the more I read about it the more I wonder if I can do it while running. I run about 20 miles a week split up over about 4 runs. Next month I am going to start training for a full marathon. Anyone do this successfully or do I really need those carbs while running so much?

I still follow grain free and eat tubers. Taro, squash, and sweet potatoes can be your starch on running days.0
