Need some ideas for my knee

I have a knee that likes to act up from an old high school injury, but I love to run! Anyone know of any exercises I can do that will strengthen it so I can run without worrying about really hurting it?

  • Swimming is a fantastic exercise with no impact on your joints.

    I am recovering from a torn meniscus so I feel your pain... literally.....

    Also try stretching the muscles with heel hikes, platform stretches (where you pull your toes toward your shin and hold for 30 seconds), half squats, and the one I LOATHED in PT where you stand in a half squat on the hurt knee and hold your other foot out in front of you just off the floor hovering for 15 seconds, then out to the side for 15 seconds then behind you for 15 seconds. I dont remember what they are called but they hurt when you first get started but honestly do help. Just make sure to keep your balance by holding onto something if you need to. Start slow but keep at it.

    Thanks, I will try that. I like swimming but we lapsed our Y membership and wont be back til next month :(
