How important are macros?

Most days I'm under my calorie goals, but I'm always over one or other of my macros. This week I seem to be over on my fats, another week it'll be carbs, and I'm nearly always over on my protein. I'm losing weight fairly consistently, though it's slowed down lately. Are macros important? Or am I ok to carry on as I am? I still have 40+ lbs to lose, will macros become more important as I get closer to goal?

The biggest concern should be hitting your protein goal. Then, just make sure you're getting enough healthy fats and enough carbs to fuel your workouts. You don't have to micro manage.

Hit your protein. Long as you do that, the other macros matter little in regards for weight loss long as you get some of both. I've seen equal calorie high/low protein studies give different results for weight loss. But I have yet to see a equal calorie equal protein different fat/carbs give any difference in fat loss..
