I've never grown garlic, so I'd never heard of scapes. Recipes and other suggestions here: http://gardening.about.com/od/herbsatoz/a/What-Are-Garlic-Scapes.htm

If you've got too many at once, it does say you can freeze them. That way you'll be mystified what to do with them later instead of now!

The scapes are the flower/stem of the garlic plant. I rarely do anything with them besides a little salad topping.

I was inspired this year. I've made a batch of hummus with them. Then the rest I made pesto, most of which I'll freeze and a bit to top our home made pizza tonight. ( spinach/feta/pesto and diced tomatoes on whole wheat crust).

Strong Garlic flavor, hot/peppery. I could even taste it this morning when I got up. Probably a good thing I didn't work today....
