Polar FT7 Waterproof question

I own the FT7 and i only have the stuff that comes in the package (the little transmitter and basic strap). I know the FT7 is waterproof and I'm planning on taking it when we go away next weekend (for use in the hotel pool). Do I have to have a special strap and transmitter or will the regular ones go in the water without a problem?

I see like 3 or 4 different straps and transmitters on the website, it's a little confusing.

The wearlink 31 supposedly works in the water.

Mine fritzes out immediately when it hits water (believe me, I've tried to make it work...) and resumes normal function after a few minutes out of the water. It's a pretty common problem.

I think for some people , it works under water. For some it doesn't.

so i have to buy a separate strap (or is it a strap and transmitter)? blah. do they sell them in stores? there's no way i can just use the stuff that comes in the box? i have the regular wearlink+ and the little transmitter you attach to the strap.

waerlink 31 is the correct strap/transmitter for water use.
It's just glitchy for a lot of people

the wearlink 31 is different than the one that comes with the device though, right?

I use the strap and transmitter that came with the FT7 and it has worked great in the water for the past 10 months. No need for additional purchase.

I dunno. What does your transmitter say on it?

The one that comes with the device works fine in the water. I've used mine for years. Just make the strap tight enough so that it maintains contact with your skin. When they get wet, they stretch a little looser. If you are going to be swimming fast or doing flip-turns, you can buy some waterproof medical tape and slap a little strip of it across the actual plastic part of the transmitter and your skin to keep it snug.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Going to give mine a spin in the pool today, was wondering what I could expect.
