Post 2 back injuries & a surgery - comebacks are hard

Hello all,
Every summer for the last 4 years I find myself in the same place: 45lbs overweight and out of shape. :frown:
I've lost >45lbs before (in 9 months; that was 5 years ago - it's all back), but since recent injuries, it just won't seem to come off
This year, it's because of surgery (for carpal tunnel) and rehabbing a herniated disc in my neck (C5/6). Two years ago (and two years before that) it was a major bicycle crash leading to back injury (T6/7).
I usually end the summer in shape and feeling great, but only down 5-8 lbs.
This summer I hope to change all that. I'm hoping this app (and some lifestyle changes) will help.
Please contact me if you see any similarities as I know having "buddies" helps us stay motivated. Here's what's on my docket:
- I'm (finally) transitioning from Fitday - this is the first app I've found that even approaches the functionality and ease of use. But I'm near obsessive compulsive about tracking, and still the numbers don't seem to add up.
- This morning, I completed Week 4 Day 3 of the "Couch to 5K" app. I was a track athlete in college, but that was decades ago, and I haven't run in 5 years (since the first back injury). I have a history of bad ankles, bad knees and shin splints and now I've been having bouts of vertigo - but better a fall at 6mph than 20mph (as my last bike crash) and I've got to get off the couch! :explode:
- I've all but given up beer/alcohol (no mas :drinker:)
In all, I'm staying positive, trying to do it right and chipping away . Hit me back if you feel the urge.
