Hi all!! I'm very new to this, two weeks in to changing my life

I've come across something interesting looking at other diaries.... negative calories!!!! How is this possible?? The example I seen was ice cold water, 500ml, and it resulted in -17 calories. Is this right? Is there anything else that does this?? I've found a few things with zero calories but not negative?!!?

Would be very handy for the days I'm a wee bit naughty  But also might be helpful for getting that full feeling I really struggle with. I'm trying really hard to break out of the habit of eating until I feel stuffed, but I've done it for so many years it's hard to change! Bad choices are made when I feel hungry....

Wow, negative calories ...... that's a new one for me

Seriously, on the days when you were a wee bit naughty, get some extra exercise ...... those extra calories burned will help.

As far as that "stuffed" feeling ..... hmmm, got nothing ...... AlkaSeltzer, maybe :drinker:

Hoping down the road, you won't want to eat like that anymore ...... best of luck to you !

largely mythology. It does take 1 calorie to heat a litre of water by 1 C, so 17 calories for half a litre means it is going from 4 to 38 C body temperature.

There are no negative calories, those people are deluding themselves. Try to eat 5+ servings of veggies per day and 1-2 fruit, days I pull that off are my best days calorie and nutrition wise. I also used to like to stuff myself, now I can't eat as much as I used to in one sitting. Drinking cold water I do find helps, like actually drink a whole cup in a minute instead of just sipping but I wouldn't log it as negative calories.

It is technically true that a few foods have negative calories (according to Snopes anyway) but the amount is so small as to be meaningless. For example, a piece of celery that is six calories will take something like six and a half calories to digest. But you are never going to consume enough celery to see any kind of effect from that amount.

If you are going for a life change, as your first sentence says,, then don't concern yourself with gimics. Eat good healthy food and exercise. On days you are a "wee bit naughty" make up for it on all the other days with healthy habits,if the the good days significantly outnumber the naughty days you will be ok.

And BTW - it is ok to naughty every once in a while, just don't make a habit of it.
