Meeting with a trainer...what should I expect?

I just joined up at a fitness center and get two free session with a trainer to start off with. If I'm happy with it, I can always add more sessions on, of course. I haven't used a trainer in 13 years and am pretty nervous about meeting up with one. I need to lose 50-60 lbs and have never enjoyed exercise or sports so I don't have that "mindset" naturally. I want someone to be able to push me but not push me away, if that makes sense. I don't respond well to someone who wants to get all tough and loud with me. I know that helps some people push harder but it makes me want to just put it down and walk away.
I am nervous more for the unknown. Can anyone give me any hints or ideas of what I should expect with a good first meeting with a trainer?

Your first meeting should focus heavily on evaluating what it is you're trying to achieve, and what needs to be done to get there. You shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable at all. A good trainer has the knowledge and patience to work with people. There's no need for a trainer to push you to the point where you feel terrible. That's not beneficial to you and your goals. I would expect your first meeting to be pleasant and informative. That's the way it should be! Best of luck to you.0

Thank you! I had a couple trainers years ago and I still remember the first time I was worked out by them (well, just one) and I couldn't move for days. It wasn't soreness....it was PAIN. The next time I went, I ended up with the owner of the gym and he asked how I felt after my workout and I told him. He was very disappointed with the trainer because I was clearly pushed way too hard. Between that and watching too much Biggest Loser, i just get a little nervous.0
