Weathering the perfect storm

Yet another newbie here to say hi and hoping to connect with others on the journey. 
I'm in my late 20s, and in the last few years, I have gone from cooking-for-two with an 9-5 job (and that awesome early-20s metabolism
) to cooking-for-one and working/studying for up to 15 hours a day, which has led me into some bad habits - convenience and comfort foods and very little exercise, coupled with some medical issues that make me hold on to weight. I've got more-or-less 10kg that I need to lose to get myself back to a healthy weight. (Superficially, it'd also be really nice not to have people look sideways at my stomach and wonder if I'm pregnant. Thanks so much, mum. :grumble:)
Anyway, none of the excuses above are going to change in the near future, so I've finally reached the conclusion that I need to find a way to work with what I've got, and I'm hoping that MFP will be a good start. I'd love to connect with others in the same boat! I've written a little more about myself in my profile, so if you've gotten this far, please check it out!
