So I know people have joked about it but i am seriously wondering if you lose anything when you poo?!!?!? Is it like water weight or do you think you could actually lose a pound. Thoughts anyone?!?!?!?!

Sccop it out and weigh it. That's how much you lost.

That's like saying you took off your shoes and now you weigh less.
Your body fat and muscle mass percentage is the same.

It's more accurate if you just squat right over the scale, so you don't pick up extra toilet water throwing off the measurement.

Clearly this person added at least 2lbs of lean body mass in their abs from all the work pushing the poop out. While on a calorie deficit.

Seriously? Unless you're in some kind of weight loss competition....does it matter? You're just going to gain that weight right back until you poo again

It would defy the laws of thermodynamics (conservation of mass) if you didn't lose anything.

I always weight myself weekly before consuming anything and AFTER a good morning pooh:flowerforyou:

It makes a difference for me of about 1.5 pounds.
    How do I know?
I weighed before and after on several occasions.

The regularity probably indicates little more than regular food intake.

Losing weight is generally not accomplished in healthy people by excretion.

The weight you lose is the weight of the poop itself...that's it.

Of course you lose "weight", ie mass, but not fat.

You have weightless shoes? Please tell me where I can get some. I'd like to try running in those.

    ditto
  • The only time I've ever checked the difference was only about .2 of a pound. I used to always freak out if I couldn't go the night before I had my weigh in in the morning (I weigh before I eat anything and I cannot go if I haven't eaten). I stopped worrying about it and I still lost weight, poo or no poo.

What about grunting effort? Surely I've burned a few calories there. Maybe it's muscle gain?

I lost 5 lbs of poop and gained 5 lbs of muscle in the process.

    Fact.

I think if you are really working at it like sweating and breathing heavy you could lose some weight from that. When I was a teen with a really fast metabolism, I used to poop within 20 minutes of eating (the food went right through me.) My parents actually compared me to a puppy. LOL
