Pasta weight cooked or dry?

Hi sorry need to ask if I need to weigh my 100g pasta for 156 calories, before or after i've cooked it? Thanks

    I've always measured it cooked! You learn something new every day... dry now it is! :laugh:

    The packet should tell you the calories for both cooked and dry.

    My packet says 75g dry = 175g cooked

    so if I'm only cooking for myself, I measure it dry before I cook it.
    If we're all having some I cook a potfull, and then weigh mine as I serve it.

    It's not always practical to weight it dry and cook your own separately.

    Dry is the only way you and another can cook the same pasta and get the same calorie count at the end of preparation.

    Take an amount of pasta, cook it until it's al dente (still crispy)... weight will be somewhat more due to the addition of water weight.
    Take that same pasta and cook it until it's on the verge of falling apart as it has absorbed so much water, it will weigh even more than the al dente.

    Dry.

    100g dry = approx 350 cals.
    As someone else said, 75g dry is around 175g cooked.

    Damn I wish I checked this after I weighed and ate my measly 50g cooked spaghetti which was about 2 mouthfuls!

    I did a test with pasta. I measure it dry and then again after its cooked. If cooking for only yourself no reason to weigh it after cooking.I found out that it's double on the weight after cooking.
