Yes...I lost 11 lb in about 5 weeks a few yrs ago by not tracking, but I had a "list" of meals on the fridge to go by for a week with about 3 different examples for each meal (I hired fitness pro). I'm guessing each meal was around 1500 calories. Bottom line, I firmly believe calories matter and should be adjusted based on activity level. The more nutrient dense the food is, the more satisfying your meals will be. I'm back to counting for now. I'm kinda burned out on "not allowed" food lists. I have no desire to pig out on chips and ice cream but when I tell myself I "can't" have certain foods, I start thinking about what I "can't" have instead of focusing on how nutritions my meals are......sounds silly I know but there you have it my 2 cents!

    Yes and no.

I had 30 pounds to lose and tried to do it without counting calories. It didn't work. I found MFP and then lost the weight by tracking calories. I don't love calorie counting but it does work. I have been maintaining now for 4+ months and have stopped logging weekends (though I still make good choices) and haven't gained. Next I will ease up on logging weekdays. Tracking works but I really don't want to do this forever. I also refuse to gain any weight back, so I am trying to find that delicate balance.
