Hello everyone! My name is Tereasa and I'm a 43 yr old grandmother-to-be. I have Type 2 Diabetes, neuropathy in my legs, and muskuloskeletal disorder, so it's very painful for me to exercise. I started P\T this morning to learn some exercises that aren't too hard for me now, and hope to strengthen my core so that I can progress to better exercises to get fit faster. I have absolutely no will power, and portion control has never been something I could stick with. I've reached a point in my life where I really need to make some lifestyle changes for myself. My Physical Therapist told me about this site this morning and I'm looking forward to using all the tools available. I've already entered my lunch information, and oh my wow! I can see I have alot of work ahead of me, lol. According to my workout routine, my height and wieght, I'm allowed to have 1620 calories a day and will still lose 1lb per week. So, I guess I'm off to find some recipes and low cal snack ideas. Feel free to add me...I need all the support I can get =)

Hey Teresa. Type 2 diabetes is something that can actually go away with good diet and exercise, add sugar to your diary so you can track that too. Counting calories has a negative connotation but it really does bring to light what you're eating and portion control. It has brought on a big change in my life and hopefully it will do the same for you.

Hi Teresa. Welcome aboard! Like many of us, our health is our motivation for fitness. Not modeling or walking along the beach. For myself, I have 4 boys and didn't want them to watch me have a stroke or heart attack in my 30's. Every time I didn't feel like waking up and walking, or hitting the gym after measuring my meals, that's what I focused on for my motivation. Type 2 diabetes can turn around with proper exercise (resistance and cardio), proper nutrition and rest. It may be a little painful at first, but you just have to find what works best for you. Have you tried aquafit aerobics? It's a great resistance workout, but it's low impact. Most of my clients / friends who are not able to hit traditional weights have tried it and become addicted! Feel free to add me and hit me up if you ever need any help!
