Fighting with yourself.

I have days where I think I'm doing awesome. I'm fantastic. I'm superwoman.
And then I have days like today where every time I catch a glance in the mirror, I feel repulsed and want to hide. I fight with myself, back and forth, 'you can do this' to 'what's the point, you're still going to be ugly anyway'. And rinse and repeat.
How do you cope with fighting with yourself?

Usually if I find myself in a funk, I try to turn it around into motivation to do something healthy for myself. Exercise for a half hour, eat a fruit or some veggies. I use my funk to motivate myself to do something that fits in with my goal. Mostly because I know I am a moody beast, and thoughts like that tend to pass eventually. I just try not to dwell or let myself indulge in self-destructive behaviors, because I know eventually (in an hour, tomorrow, in three days) I will feel fine again and be back on the positive train.
I guess my point is that if being down on yourself isn't your normal mood, it helps to realize that and keep yourself busy with healthy actions until the feeling passes. I think getting frustrated is a normal part of the journey; the trick is just knowing how to deal with it until you're feeling better.0 -
I don't think I look much different either most days. I notice the looser clothes, but it does not always help. When I get frustrated the worst, I either clean or exercise! I always feel better after I exercise. I guess it's that endorphone thing. I still do not have a full length mirror. That is going to be awhile before I do THAT to myself.0

Pardon me for saying this (and I say it with the utmost of admiration and respect!): tell that "discouraging" voice in your head to pipe down! Who does she think she is, anyway?! EndlessMuse is a hard-working, motivated woman and a loving mother! There's NOTHING she's not capable of!! There's no "naggy internal voice" that will make her forget all that she's accomplished and all that she'll do in the future!
I hope you find something that works for you when you're feeling discouraged! And regardless of what our outer shells look like, nothing is more beautiful than self-confidence and the motivation of a self-possessed woman!0 -
You have to learn to love yourself!
You are going to have to find a way to cherish who you are and what accomplishments you have made. I can't say exactly how you can do this, because it's different for everyone.
I believe you can do it. Anyone can. You just have to trust yourself!0 -
Other people don't have to look at you in the mirror. Only you do. You should be happy with yourself or at least happy with your plan/journey to change yourself. I think most of us are here because there's something we want to change.
I hope you find something that motivates you to action instead of depressing you into inaction.
Surround yourself with good positive people. If you can't find them in real life, then find them here. Count me among them.
I don't have the best support from my real friends on FB. Shoot, the other day someone told me that I'll never get a six pack (in a flip/funny/less cruel way). It messes with my head. Creates doubts. But it's not gonna get me down. Watch me. I've lost 10 pounds so far. Watch me prove them all wrong.0 -
I do the same thing some times and then I remember that I am a work in progress!
Hang in there, lovely!0 -

Oh I totally do that. Yesterday I had a mega fat day I smoke to get through the day. Definitely not saying anyone else should do this, it's just what works for me0 -
Whenever I get frustrated with myself or start to doubt my ability to reach my goals, I take immediate action.
I do something, anything to propel myself toward my goal. By taking action, I take my mind off of my self-doubt and place
it on whatever it is that I'm doing which helps alleviate my frustration, insecurity, sadness or whatever else. I like the you're a force to be reckoned with! I agree :-)0 -
First, you're nowhere near ugly, but setting that aside, everyone looks better when they lose weight. Have you ever seen a before and after pic and thought, hmmm...they're not cute they should have stayed fat, I doubt it!
I completely understand though, I have said very ugly and nasty things to myself and that's what I tell myself when I get negative, no matter what, I'll look better even if I only lose 20lbs. Another thing I do to help get me out of negative funks is to remember all the incredible before and after pictures and remind myself they didn't get that way by cheating, quitting, phoning it in at the gym, etc...they busted their *kitten* and they got there and that's what I need to do too. In fact I did that exact thing this morning. My alarm went off at 5, I planned on taking a 6am spin class, and I laid in bed for a while running the gamet trying to rationalize why I should stay in bed and sleep in! Finally I said, nope, if I want to be like <<so and so who had amazing results>> I have to bust my *kitten* because that's what they did.
I don't know, might sound ridiculous and cheesy, but it's been working for me so far lol0 -
OMG I could have totally wrote this post. I still have moments, the funny thing is today I am actually up on the scale from yesterday and yesterday I felt like every time I looked in the mirror I seen a reflection of the fat me.. Today I look in the mirror and see me like I really am. Our minds are still trying to catch up. I keep telling my mind to shut up.0
