Frustrated with being frustrated

I've been on the yo-yo string since highschool (so many moons ago) and since I joined MFP last October, I have been able to finally drop some weight, in a healthy, consistent way...until now. I lost about 12 pounds and was SO proud of myself. It's been a long struggle, but I kept at it and saw the scale inch it's way down and my clothes finally felt looser...until now. Can I blame it on stress? I could...I have two kids, a full time job (managing a large budget), and a home that I manage with the hubby. Could I blame it on hormones? I could...diagnosed with thyroid cancer 15 years ago and been on synthroid ever since. Could I blame it on being busy? Absolutely...there are times when I don't stop to refuel and become so ravenous that I house the entire cabinet of food. That doesn't happen very often, but it does occur.

I have managed to gain most of the weight back due to not staying on top of my habits and not being consistent with logging my food. I was on a roll...I really was! Then, I got tired and frustrated...and angry. With myself. I'm the one to blame. Now, trying to get back on the horse again is getting more and more tiring. I see all of the wonderful success stories and pictures and I am happy for those people, I truly am. But then, I look at myself and see someone who is failing...everyone has their own secret equation of what works for them. I guess I just haven't figured mine out yet.

Wow, I can relate!!!!! A person can always point to why and point blame and you then feel down. It seems you always have to be "on" your game. It is exhausting but one thing that keeps me going and maybe it will help you is that your human and juggling everything is tough...but your still here!!! And that is huge......don't give up on yourself, you are worth it!! Striving to be your best means getting up after getting down....keep getting up and trying your best!

You're not failing you just had a lot to deal with in your life and fell back into old habits (so easily done). Don't give yourself a hard time, there is plenty of support on MFP and you can start your weight loss again once you are ready. You could soon be one of the wonderful success stories and sharing pictures of the 'new you' .

    Keep trying. You'll find it.

No yo-yoing. Is your goal to weight less or health? Looks like you have some beautiful children. Do you want to set a good example for them? Do you want to live to enjoy your grandchildren? Do you want to be able to do some things? to wear some things? What are your motivations? If you find the motivation, go slow, be easy & kind to yourself. Would you give up on your children just because they made some mistakes? The people who seem to be able to maintain long-term health changes have to re-start multiple times, work at it slowly and see it as a set of lifestyle changes, not a short-term, deprivation diet to lose weight.

    Good luck!

I know it can get frustrating, but don't give up. If you need extra support, there are lots of us here that care. Even if you just need to gripe every now and then

You need to take it one meal or snack at a time and make the best choice you can. Remember you are in control. No one else. We all have bad days, weeks, months. Just get back at it and hold yourself accountable. One meal at a time.
