Plateau -- Help!

Okay, so about 2 years ago I was at 210 lbs. When I moved to college, I dropped 40 lbs. (Yay!) I maintained it for a few months, but when I went home for summer I ended up back at 189 lbs. (Boooooo!)

I am now back down around 165, but I can't seem to break the plateau! I have never been below 165 in my adult life, and realize that 165 might be what my body is most comfortable at, because even with eating a 1200 calorie diet of only healthy foods and working out 5 times a week, I can't seem to drop below it.

I've been doing 30 Day Shred, and I'm guessing it's just not intense enough to help me break the plateau, so I'm thinking of switching to Insanity.

Should I up my calorie count? Or try cycling my calories?

Do I just need to work harder?

What's going onnnnnnnnnn?

Any advice would be appreciated!

  • How long have you been stuck at this weight? How many calories are you consuming? Aside from the DVD you're doing what's your activity level like? How old are you? How long did it take to drop to 165?
