Getting scammed

I am trying to sell a few items on Gumtree & Ebay, and from Gumtree I had a guy say he wanted to buy my items, and he would transfer money into my Paypal account, but I had to transfer part of that money into a Western Union account for shipping charges. Naturally this raised a few suspicions, and I called Paypal to verify he was full of it, and he was. Which kinda sucks because I was counting on the money, but owell.

What scams have you heard of? Apart from the Nigerian ones, everyone knows about them hahah
