I went low carb a couple weeks ago and thinking about going even lower (Atkins low) but I have no clue whether I'm in ketosis or not because I haven't bought any little sticks to pee on.0

What is that?
Diet consisting of high fat, moderate protein, and little to no carbs. Puts your body into a state of ketosis. Should look it up.

I did low to no carb or fat and high protein. Ketosis is just very low carb. under 50 grams a day. There is no real benefit as far as fat loss. Its just a way to cut calories.0 -

It has muscle sparring advantages. That and it's an awesome diet! Bacon, eggs, cheese, and sausage up the wazoo!!! lol0 -

The muscle sparring comes from the high protein. I have done lyle mcdonalds RFL and liked it, and had good results but I could not live low carb.0 -
I dont think that would work for me....0

I was so sick a couple of years back that my body went into a state of ketosis. I was dizzy, barely able to stand, had tremors and felt like I could fall asleep at any point. I was so ill from my muscle breakdown and the ketones in my body it took me a good 6 months to feel myself again....so....yeah I won't be trying that one. Oh that and the UTI's that came with it too. Nice.
If it works for you though0 -
Really messes up your kidney functions too.0
-
Also....can you see yourself still doing it in 5 years time? 20 years time? The rest of your life? What will happen if/when you decide to up your carbs again? Weigh gain?0

Only if you have kidney problems to begin with. I did Atkins stage 1 (under 20 carb grams) for over a year and had no ill effects (per my doctor). But I hit financial trouble and had to live off peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a while.0 -
No, I just balance my diet - no hard swings, but Good luck folks!:drinker:
I just like to keep things simple and healthy with lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, whole grains and a splash of dairy.
Simple.
When I have to cut this or not eat that, I falter, and I need to know I am getting enough vitamins, minerals, fiber and all that this diet seems to lack. Here is an objective review:

People get results, yet there are drawbacks too. Like anything.
Again, good luck...0 -
I tried it and i was tired all the time0

Riiiiiiiiiight. I must have lost all that fat by wishing it off.
No, wait, it was probably just 94 lbs of water weight. Yeah, that must be it.0 -
I started Atkins a few weeks ago and am loving it. No huge losses like some people get but what I have lost big time is food cravings and the midnite munchies. I thought I would never be able to do without pasta, bread and potatoes but much to my surprise I don't miss them. What I feared might be too restrictive a diet has actually turned out to be a freedom diet for me. I feel more energetic now that I don't get carb crashes and actually look forward to working out. Might not be the diet for everyone but it's working for me.0

Atkins has worked for me, real happy with it...and Ketosis, yeah it works0

I am on a CKD right now. Been doing keto for about three months now. I love it. Very easy to eat on, and hit your daily macros. I will not do it forever, but until I decide to bulk I am going to remain on it.0

Yeah because your body needs a moderation of all different types of food, carbs, fats, proteins, and ect...0
