Stretching and Strength Training Question

So I'm doing the Power 90 right now. on Sculpt 3-4 he takes 2or 3 stretch breaks between sets. My question is, is it really necessary? Would it be an issue to skip the stretch and go straight to the next set, or will it be in my better interest to go ahead and do it?
Thanks yall!

I would think the stretching is just as important as the actual workout. On my Pilates D I start with the flexibility segment and then move on to the actual work out, It makes me feel good just doing the flexibility segment, It makes me feel refreshed and ready to tackle anything.

Would it be smarter to skip it and risk hurting yourself and therefore halting your program for the sake of saving a few minutes?

Here are some good reasons why you should do them:

Increase or maintain flexibility for day-to-day or performance functionality
Prevent injury during sports and exercise activity
    Increase performance in sport
    Offset muscle soreness after exercise

I'm nowhere near ready for p90x training, and may never be, but I stretch a little before and after my warmups and about 45 minutes to 2 hours after workouts.

I always stretch before and after workouts. It's the stretchs in between sets while working out. I'm doing Power 90. It was made back in the 90s I think. lol. It has helped me SO much in endurance and strength.
