Huge Sushi Lover - Help!

I am a sushi fanatic. It's an obsession.
Obviously, from a calorie perspective, you have to be extremely careful.
I'm going out for sushi tonight. I'm looking for some general tips that will allow me to enjoy my sushi without blowing out my daily calorie goals. Today I'm fine, as I had a very healthy breakfast and light lunch. But that won't always be the case.
So in general, what do you sushi lovers do to make smart choices when you're eating the greatest food ever made? ;-) And yes, more sashimi is an option, but I love my sushi rolls, and I don't want to ever give them up...
Thanks!

Though I love the fancy special rolls - you know, the ones filled with fried things and mayo based sauces - I tend to forget how much I also enjoy a plain salmon or tuna roll. A small miso soup, salad, and those two rolls do a really good job at filling me up without overindulging. I am not a fan of most veggie rolls, but the mushroom ones can be great too.
I guess my main tip would be to know what you are getting before you go. That way the 1000 calorie rolls wont suck you in.0 -
Sushi is good for you. Keep that in mind. Stay away from maki with the mayo and tempura in it. Stay away from tempura all together. Other than that sashimi is perfectly fine. You can limit your rice. But there really isn't a "serving" of rice in a roll. Enjoy your meal and workout extra if you need to.0

Great advice. Yeah, I just looked at sushi tempura in the database here and almost had a heart attack. So that one is out.. I was never a huge fan of the "mayo" or cream cheese based rolls, so no harm eliminating them, either.
