Craving peanut butter?

Okay, I suppose there's a possibility that I could be pregnant, but that aside (because I don't think I am) why am I craving peanut butter? Protein maybe or something else? I didn't eat much last week at Disney World because my husband and son were sick and I felt sick to my stomach because they were, so I've been super hungry since we got home. I want to eat everything (but I haven't been! ) and peanut butter has been something I want to eat a lot of. I got the Fiber One bars with oats and peanut butter and I have been wanting to eat two of those a day plus a PB sandwich. I figure I am low on something and that's why. Any ideas?
Thanks

'Cause peanut butter is good
Peanuts have a lot of Folate - so maybe your pregnant after all? Also a lot of Niacin. Or it could be the fat you are craving. Or the sweet (in the bars or sandwich).
Just my thoughts.0 -
I went through the same thing. Only this was right after I had my baby. I would eat The fiber one bars too and two peices of toast with peanut butter! (not all at once lol) And I would still want more peanut butter. Im not sure what causes it. It is probably a lack of protein or something. I am breastfeeding so I think that might have had something to do with it. In any case PB is so good for you so dont feel bad about giving in. I did, and Im no worse for the wear!0

I've had two home births and with both of those births I wanted to eat peanut butter on wheat toast immediately after the birth. I think that my body was exhausted from labor and it needed the protein. Peanut butter stayed a favorite of mine for about a year each time (while I was nursing), so I think that I just really must have needed it. I believe that our bodies do talk to us through our cravings. When I feel like gourging myself with chips, I usually want something with vinegar and salt in it. So, when I'm being good, I'll eat black beans with lowfat sour cream and hot sauce, or chilli beans with hot sauce and sour cream, ooh ooh or immitation crab meat with capers, hot sauce, cilantro, balsamic vinegar. Oh gosh, I am hungry now, lol.0

If you eat All Natural Peanut Butter, It's good for you! It has more of a peanut taste and not as sweet. You'll need to stir it to get the oil back into the butter. And you may want to use a bit of honey to sweeten it. If that doesn't work!! You know what to do!!0

Yumm - you guys are cruel today :noway: Now I'm wanting all kinds of yummy things and stuck here at work  Peanut butter is good for you - healthy fats - expecially the natural stuff. I say go for it, but go easy. Lots of calories - but good ones I love peanut butter, but it tends to give me heartburn.0

PEANUT BUTTER!! I have been hearing it call my name as well BUT I resit its temptations! Ive been strict on myself and it is paying off! I wont give in.
I am only eating fruit, veggies and fish or chicken. Water lots of water to drink and one diet drink otherwise a day. Since Sunday Ive lost 2 pounds with limited amounts of exersize due to the fact that I have chronic Fibro but Im working it as best as I can. I know this diet doesnt work for people and I wont be able to adhear to it for a very long time because I need to feed my body more BUT for this first two weeks at least I hope I can stick with it.
PEANUT BUTTER....YUMMY!
Peace and love to you!

Have you tried soy nut butter? It tastes very similar to peanut butter with a little less fat and calories. We started buying it when we found out my 4 year old is allergic to peanuts (some brands are processed in a peanut/nut free plant). You may be able to tolerate it a little more.0 -
Thanks for the info Mireille! I also like Almond Nut butter. YUMM!0

soynut butter sounds like something I might try. I wonder if my local grocer carries it. I was just in the herb store looking for peanut butter and they didn't have any but I did buy some perserves that is made with Xylitol and fairly low in calories.0

I would love to try the almond butter but I can't seem to find a peanut free version. My daughter is only allergic to peanuts but is able to eat any other nut. She loves almonds and I know she would go crazy over it.:bigsmile:0 -
Adams Peanut Butter is all natural and available at most stores - even Wally World.
I'll have to ask Mom where she gets the almond nut butter - but I think at one of the local health food stores. If you have a food processor you could make your own - Roast the almonds lightly in the oven (about 10 mins or until you can smell them) and grind in food processor. I don't know if you would have to add any oil or not - you don't with peanuts - maybe have a little EVOO or something on hand.0 -
That's a great idea! Costco has peanut free almonds and I'm going to try that!
Thank you!:flowerforyou:0
