Do you burn any calories standing/setting in 100 plus degree weather?? Yesterday it hit 109 where I live and I sweated from noon til almost midnight yesterday. It was MISERABLE! Just wondering if you burn calories this way? I know setting in a sauna people lose weight and that's basically what it felt like yesterday.

  • No. You will lose water weight if not hydrating properly, but the amount of sweat produced has no direct affect on calorie burn. It takes an elevated heart-rate and increased oxygen consumption to burn calories.

Similarly, a sauna will only help you lose water-weight. No evidence of significantly elevated calorie burn has been tied to sitting in a sauna.
