:glasses: I'm Sherri. I live in the Mohave Desert which is hot, hot, hot right now. I'm 50 y.o., menopausal, and short, just under 5 ft. tall. I'm also diabetic type 2. In other words, I don't need to eat food to live. I can breathe air and get all the nutrition required, kinda like an air plant.
My calorie requirement is 1200 cal. a day which is basically an orange pit and a lettuce leaf. :noway:
I do like riding horses. I'm leasing a TB right now. Big boy. But it's been so hot, that riding is hard to do. I feel for the poor horse.
I wish I could have more liposuction. Not for weight control because it doesn't do that, but getting off the fat pads is great. I did liposuction on my thighs because of a hematoma injury, and I had the surgeon suck out the fat pads on the inside of my thighs as well. What a difference it's made in walking straight and riding horses. Surgeons will do liposuction for people up to 60 lbs overweight. After that, they say you have to slice and dice, and that's very painful. I have certain areas of my body that had fat pads even when I was 99 lbs, so those areas would be fine to suck off right now.
Otherwise the weight needs to come off with dieting and exercise for my diabetes 2 problem. It's inherited. Everyone in the family has it to one degree or another. Very few escape it all together. It's the easiest diabetes to control however. Just take off a few pounds and walk everyday, and it's under control. The entire family also has the thrifty gene that makes it very hard to lose weight. My family just doesn't need to eat much at all to stay healthy. We are extremely efficient in processing food. A little goes a long, long way.
But I love to eat. Anything. Food is good. I have struggled to not use it as a drug for my emotions which I have been doing since I was 4 years old. I have a true eating disorder both physically and mentally. I get too hungry for the small amount of food that I need to eat, 1200 calories. I'm still thinking about having the lap band to help control the hunger. The emotional eating I've pretty much gotten under control. I can't seem to control the hunger part. I'm like a Shetland pony which needs to eat very little to stay slim but has a huge appetite for everything in it's path.
Anyone know Sandy400? She's a long time friend of mine and here somewhere.
Is anyone else very short or menopausal or diabetic or have the thrifty gene or have had liposuction or like horses and ride no matter what your weight is, or have a big appetite with hunger problems, or have had the lap band in an attempt to control hunger pangs? Hi Sherri.
i am a new member aswell and i am a type one diabedic (17). Ive had this berden of a desease est. 2006.lol I manage well tho with visits to the Gym every day for a hour or more 7days a week.
How has your A1C been?

Nic, great to meet you! My AC's are running about 6.5 last time they were checked. I'm hoping that with more exercise, I can get it down below 6.0

Is 1200 cals what has been recommended for you? Seems a tad low. I am recommended at 1200 but manually adjusted mine to 1400. I was too hungry at 1200 myself. I also eat all my workout calories. YUM.

Thank you for the welcome Lauryn! I do have a wild imagination when it comes to writing. I'll probably bump up my calories to 1400 too. I'll just have to get that exercise done and eat up those extra calories!

Yep, Sandra, I know who you are! :drinker: Bummer about the knee replacement surgery. :sad: Sheila will eventually have to have it done too. I'm surprised she hasn't had it done already, but she is trying to hold out until the last minute. :flowerforyou:0
