I had a bike(pedal) accident, Cracked 3 ribs and chipped elbow. Doc said no weightlifting 8 or more weeks. Breathing is a challenge. But, I lift heavy 3 times a week along with cardio. I feel a bit lost to think I cannot lift that long? I am concerned after a solid year of lifting this will effect my progress.

If anyone has had these injuries and could offer any insight, how long b4 lifting, what workouts did you do? recovery time, etc.

I am 47 and in good shape, I am hoping that will speed recovery. I also have maintained weight for a year, I am going to cut cals a bit since activity level not the same.
Was eating between 1800-2000+ thinking 1600-1700?
Also will start walking when breathing is better.

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreaciated!
Thanks in advance.

Dude, if breathing is a challenge, I would really listen to your doctor. If you can't breathe and give your blood and brain oxygen, the lifting isn't going to do much.

For these 8 weeks, you may need to stick to cardio - walking, stationary bike - at slow paces until you are healed. You will be amazed at how much muscle memory there will be when you can go all out again. Sure if will take a few sessions to get back to your old self, but getting healthy is the key.
