Mary, I noticed that there was a thread going on barefoot or 'minimalist' running (I guess there are some really light foot coverings that you can get). I thought it was interesting, but I really can't go barefoot. I have high arches that started falling and causing plantar fasciitis several years ago, and then got a whole lot worse last year after an afternoon of dancing barefoot. I wear orthotics, and can only barely manage walking around the house barefoot without feeling like my feet are falling apart. It's weird. I usually tape up my feet before I go running to help immobilize the arches a little bit, because otherwise they start hurting and constantly popping. I'd like to think there are ways to strengthen my feet but I am nervous about being barefoot now.
We went to see (500) Days of Summer last night (fun movie!), and so I didn't get to my pushups. I'll do them tonight. Tonight we are going to a ballooning festival! And it looks like a beautiful day out, so we are getting ready to find something outside to do.
Happy weekend!0 -

Maybe you shouldn't run?0 -
Hello, SBFs! Just thought I would pop in to say "hello". I hope everyone is doing well. I am fine but have managed to gain back the weight that I lost last winter. So, it is back to work on it again. I kept up with my exercise but let the food build back up again with my different, although much better, schedule. I think we are now settled on the job front. I went into private practice with a small law firm. I tried teaching, too, but it was too much on top of the other. So, I'm sticking with the law firm, and I get to leave at 3:00 to pick my children up from school each day. It is working out very nicely. My secretary from my former office actually retired from that job and has come to work for the firm that hired me. Everyone there is really nice. I am enjoying it.
Good to be back, and look forward to catching up.

Good to see you again Bobbie! Pop in when you can! And you are not alone on the weight gain. I gained all mine back too, but I am back at it...or still at it.
I had a productive day. I didn't get all the stuff done that I wanted but I did get the belts changed on the car (with a little help from DH) and the idler pulley which has been rattling forever. It's so much quieter! Now If I can just figure out what is wrong with DH's car. :grumble:
So my back and arms are sore and scraped and bruised. Oh well. It feels good to get that fixed. Not sure I burned many calories though. Tomorrow is church and I don't know what else.
Hope you had a good day!

Good to see you again Bobbie. I'm glad you found a job that works with your schedule.
Yesterday: 1 hour bike, 75 min yoga. Today: 2 hour bike? some yoga. We have to work up to 30-40 miles so we are ready for the 50 mile at the end of the month - which is coming up quickly! We are so grateful that the 100 degree heat has abated for awhile.
Tomorrow is the Free Day of Yoga in Austin (and some other cities - I know Dallas and a few other Texas cities do it on Labor Day, other places have the free day in January) - all over Austin yoga classes are offered free of charge. I'm teaching one at 4:30 and hope to make it to at least one other one in the morning. I wanted to go to more, but with kitty feedings, I can't work it out. No biggie.

Hello again, Bobbie! Great to see you again.
Today, I'm aiming for Bikram. I find that I'm nervous to go whenever I get off my schedule with Bikram. I don't know if it's some weird guilt. . .or just fear that if you don't use it you lose it.
My massage yesterday was brutal! Therapeutic massage is kind of a drag for me, as muscle pain, tension and soreness is my usual state of being. . .but some things had just frozen up and needed to be released. My massage therapist is wonderful and worked for an extra half an hour (I'm her pet challenging project. .. my muscles just essentially get stuck and are difficult to relax) Someday soon I owe myself a relaxation-style spa massage, but insurance only covers the ones that make me feel like one big bruise afterward (and during, come to think of it). So, it would probably be a good idea to ride the stretchy train a little bit more today and then take a day off tomorrow. . .
Walking bruise boogaloo!
Take care, pebbs.:flowerforyou:0
