What did you do with your first salary?

I'm trying to find discussions online for it and thought that this community might have some additional interesting answers.

How did you spend your first salary from your first - job ever? real job after college/university?

Also, did anyone get anything for their parents as a thank you? If so, what did you get? I need some ideas besides just treating them out to dinner. I want something tangible that they can keep without being cheesy and is something other than jewellry.

In high school bought my mom a refrigerator and stove, of course she didn't appreciate it unfortunately oh well gotta let that one go
