anyone on here tried weight loss/diet pills to help boost their weight loss? i'm wanting to get some pills to help lose weight, although i'm a little eery on pills that increase ur heart rate especially when ur not working out. I currently am drinking a jug of green tea (cooled with sliced lemon), i would prefere natural weight loss supplements.

thanks

They are all extremely dangerous. Lot's of people have heart attacks and severe side effects. Don't take them especially if you are on other pills.

Google how dangerous they are, and all of the horror stories. The pills are basically speed.
  • I have taken and still currently take mega tea green tea and have had no bad side effects. I can tell that it boosts my metabolism too. If you are looking for an appetite suppressant it is not for you, but if you just want an extra boost they will help. I think I lose more weight when I do take them then on weeks when I do not.

I am sure this will cause people to say all kinds of ugly things, but I have. My doctor prescribed me Phentermine a year ago. The point of it was to suppress my appetite and learn to eat smaller portions. It did exactly what it was supposed to. When you are over 300lbs it's hard to just go from way overeating to eating tiny portions. She only allowed me to be on it 3 months and I had to come in monthly to weigh and have my heart rate and blood pressure monitored. I know there are a ton of people out there who have done it without them and kudos to them, but it worked for me because it helped me learn portioning. She also sent me to a nutritionist that gave me more specific ideas of what to eat. I have never tried any over the counter ones, but I'm not sure they work. Hope that helps!

I have gradually changed my life over 4 plus years and now I almost dont even think about how I eat or exercise I feel once you start pills to affect your appetite it is the same as some diets that people go on and cant stay on and the weight comes back take a pill kill your appetite maybe no more pills and eat out of control I am not a fan of anything that cant be life long
I did every diet you can imagine over 50 years since I was a kid and lost and gained 1000s of pounds till I was 370 and was a physical mess now I live a healthy life style and by the end of this year will be on goal I will have lost half of my body weight by eating right and exercising you can do it as well

I am currently taking Phentermine (prescribed by my doctor) I have only been on them for a week by so far I have lost 8lbs and am learning to eat smaller portions and to make healthier food choices. I only take 1/2 a pill a day because I am on some other medications that could have effects with the phentermine. I think if you are seriously struggling to loose weight then they may work for you but if you just want to take them to be a quick fix then I see a problem.

Don't do it! I've lost and gained weight so many times in my life. This time I did it without any pills and the pounds continuously came off and stayed off.
When you take pills, your heartrate increases. We all know that this burns calories, so at first you lose weight quickly. But only 5 to 10 pounds. Then the weight loss slows or stops. Since the pills are expensive, you stop taking them. But now your heartrate slows down because you aren't giving it that false boost. So now you GAIN back the weight you lost and sometimes more!
    Sound familiar??
Want a metabolism booster? Work out harder, stay on the treadmill a little longer, sweat a little more, run a little faster. There's no magic pill to get you out of it, unfortunately.

Probably not the best solution if you're looking for a lifestyle/lifetime change. Popping pills your whole life is not sustainable and can do more damage than good, particularly on your liver.

If your doc prescribes them to you, it may be a quick fix but once you're off them you also have to change the way you eat.

Now, I will be the first to say that everybody is different. I recognize that while something did not work for me, it may work for someone else. So, make whatever decision you feel is right for you; just be careful, please, and make sure you read all the side effects, etc.

A few years back while I was in college, I religiously used Hydroxycut for a while. I basically was too lazy to really eat right and believed that I could "eat whatever I wanted and still lose weight". It seemed to work for a bit, but gradually I noticed that while I'd work out, my heart rate increased to a level that started to scare me. I also had trouble with digesting food properly; I'll spare you the details there. Long story short, I stopped taking the pills, but to this day, I still have digestive trouble sometimes when I eat fatty foods, something I'm pretty sure I can attribute to Hydroxycut.

So like I said, everybody is different. Make your own decision, just make sure that it is an educated one.
