"FUN" Exercise

I can't stand a gym or aerobics. They put me to sleep.

Instead, I figured out things I like to do. For example, I like to ride horses, so I half-leased/month a horse from a stable to ride a couple times a week for exercise. Believe me, after brushing a horse, tacking up, and riding for an hour or two, I'm exhausted.

I want to learn golf. I prefer hitting golf balls outside than doing sit-ups inside. I got a golf video, had my sister-in-law show me how to hold a club, and I feel safe at a golf range driving golf balls. You only need one club, and you can get that at a second-hand store. Maybe this winter I'll take lessons. I've also consider playing miniature golf as it would help with putting.

I like racquetball but practicing alone gets really boring after a while.

There is a batting cage closeby. I may try that one day.

Walking is okay, but I don't feel safe doing it alone. Since I have no workout partner, I got a small dog at a dog rescue, and he insists on walking every evening. Good incentive to get out and do it even when I don't want to.

A neighbor has a pool. I've thought about paying them a little something per week to help out with the electric bill, and then I could swim a couple times a week. That would be great exercise.

Does anyone else get creative when it comes to exercising?

I like my exercising to be fun too!
For my exercise, I walk almost every day, (weather permitting!) I also dance to a fast oldies CD that my husband made up of all my favorite old songs. (Like "Love Shack", Wild, Wild West", "Mony, Mony", "Footloose", and "Gloria")
It's free, (unlike a gym!) fun, and I can even watch tv at the same time, so I never get bored!
I also recently aquired the Wii Fit, and jog to that, which is a lot of fun, and easy too! Plus, with the regular Wii, you can play games like baseball, golf, tennis, and bowling.

Go on meetup.com and look for groups in your area. I found a women's walking group in my area who do amazing hour long walks where we cover 5 miles.

Swimming is great exercise and is fun. Are there any classes in your area. I took a belly dancing class that was fun and I am now signed up for a yoga/ tai chi /pilates class in the local pool.

Dancing is a really creative way to work out. You're having fun so you don't notice the workout behind it. A friendly/social sport like tennis, is also a good way to exercise while having fun. My "creative" fun workout is SHOPPING!! I spend a few hours at the mall - doing A LOT of walking (in heels!) and only realize the effect of that the next day when I wake up feeling like I spent the night on the treadmill. LoL.

I started following this and I've never looked back at a traditional workout:

Go outside, play, run around, sprint, lift heavy things, play a sport, walk around, carry groceries up the stairs, go outside and garden or fix the house. Doesn't have to be done all at once and can be spread out through the day.

It's a nice bit of freedom, to be honest, and it's a lot of fun.
