    We learn by doing.
The will is like a muscle that grows stronger with use.
Some people fast for a day every week.
    Others learn mental disciplines.
In time your will should increase. Just keep punching, and never say die!
    All Is Possible.

I do...Love yourself enough to not let things get in the way of your goals.
    One step at a time.
    Create a WILL to succeed.
You ARE worth it...the rewards are plenty.
Wish you much success in all that you do!!!

    I have it.

It used to be pretty elusive to me. But then I decided that I wanted to be healthy and fit more than I wanted to be fat and lazy. So, it's much easier for me to say NO to overeating and lazy tendencies.

You have to want it. Sorry, but no one else can give you will power. You have to develop it out of your desire for change.

No one has much without finding out what tools work for them. That's how we got overweight.

Probably my biggest tool is controlling my environment. Have healthy food around and not the tempting stuff. If pizza does you in, avoid the pizzeria for a while. If beer, stay out of the bars. Find substitute treats for yourself that don't work against your long term goals.

Try to set your life up so you don't need a lot of will power. Then it will grow slowly with time.

Eat things that make you feel full when you're hungry - nuts or anything else with protein.

Don't let yourself GET hungry. If your body says it's time to eat lunch - eat it. Or eat part of it and wait for a while.

Eat anything you want - but not that much. I love sweets. I eat a spoonful of ice cream in a little bowl with a teaspoon of nuts on it. I put a spponful of Greek yogurt on it instead of whipped cream because it's really, really rich. Love it. But it hasn't got a huge amount of calories, it's delicious, and I'm good with that.

I don't keep fatty junk food in the house like chips. They don't even taste good to me any more.

I have lots of fruit in the house and eat it when I'm hungry.

And I've learned that if I eat a little and wait an hour I'm often not hungry any more.

No will power. Just management. I enjoy every single bite I put in my mouth and try to make every one as delicious and flavorful as possible. I'm not into deprivation.

It depends on my motivation and what's going on. Right now, I am busier than ever and barely have time for sleep, so I have no will power for exercise or eating healthy. But when I am not so busy and can focus then I can control my cravings and am much more motivated and determined.
  • How I developed will power was not overwhelming myself. I made one small "fit" change at a time. E.g. Switching from white to wheat, cutting out Splenda, cutting out coffee (for me, it made my acne worse; others will find it's healthy for them), eating one more serving a day of fruits/vegetables, switching to plain yogurt from flavored or Greek from regular, etc.

If you try to make all types of changes at once, your mind will "rebel," and sabotage you. Making one at a time was more sustainable for me. Even then, however, I have a "cheat" every once in a while. I'm a beer hound, so I like to get a tasty one maybe once a week.

    Hope this helps!

A friend of mine is fond of saying "it isn't will power, it's won't power"

You just have to do it. You have to believe it and you have to want it, then you have to do it. It comes from within. No one can give it to you.
