Couch to 5K

I'm going to start C25K this week. I've always said I'd never be a runner. BUT I've heard such good things that I am going to give it a shot. My issue with exercise is that typically I get bored. In any case - anyone have advise for those of us who are going to try it out and aren't in the greatest of shape to begin with??

THANKS!

stick with it! i know that is something that everyone will say but i promise it does get easier. (not EASY, just easIER) The first week was okay for me, i was well aware how out of shape i was, so it was not too much of a shock but for some reason the transition to week 2 killed me. and then i hurt a muscle in my leg and was out for a few weeks, so i started over. i am not on week 3 day 3. i have to "bribe myself" during the run...my guilty pleasure is really really bad reality tv so for my last run i just kept telling myself that if i finished it, no walking that i could watch a show when i got home.

i have also been doing it on the treadmill, i started outside but it just got too hot. im going to try and incorporate outside back into it thought because i know it is better for "5k training"

if you have a smartphone, download one of the many apps. I have run double and i love it. if you are running outside or on a track (not treadmill) it will track everything for you (pace, distance, etc.) and tells you when to run/walk... love it!

keep a nice jogging pace at first, don't try and run your heart out as fast as you can, you won't be able to finish.

put some music on and focus on your breathing, drink lots of water before and after and STRETCH! good luck, add me as a friend if you want some support!
