help on the weekends

I need advice and help with my weekends. Usually I have a computer (at work) I can plug my calories away at and the exercise I do. But now I am starting to think about my first weekend on MFP. I wont have access to web or app since I dont have a smart phone. We are usually out with our friends who eat out once saturdays and once sundays. How can I make sure I stay on track and dont overeat? I get that I need to track and write everything down, but what other tips can you give me?
