2nd attempt :)

I posted a question the other day and only got 1 response. (Thank you, Carrie! :)) I am thinking that my question wasn't specific enough for people to give their feedback so I'm going to try again. I have been messing around with the idea that I really need a HRM. (Had my eye on the Polar ft4) However, my husband asked what I thought about the Fit bit and if I would rather have one of those. Here is my question: Based on my level of fitness (I mostly do running and walking to lose weight and the occasional video) would I benefit from the Fit Bit ? Does it give accurate read on calories burned? I don't know much about it but I'm really looking for more accurate calories in/out each day so that I have better success losing weight. (I have about 30 lbs left to lose.) I could probably google this question and get info on it but I would much rather hear personal experience from you guys. If there is already a thread I should read about this, I would love to read that if someone doesn't have time to rehash out the details of the Fit bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm looking to maximize my purchase of either a HRM or Fit BIt.

  • I am still sticking to the HRM...and not a cheap one!!! I got that one at Walmart I told you about and have been stuck at a plateau for like 3 weeks or so and I upped my calories, added lifting blah blah blah....well I got a Polar FT4 the other day from amazon and last night I used both to see what the burn said. The HR on both was the exact same but there was over a 300 calorie difference in the calorie burn department with the Polar being lower. I am attributing it to the chest strap of the Polar for a more accurate account of burn. I am going Friday and buying a Body Media Fit Link which is even more "high tech". Check those out too. I would say either a Polar HRM or a Body Media Fit Link....just my opinion. :flowerforyou:

Search fitbit on the forums, there's been quite a few posts lately about it. I've decided not to get one just yet based on a few of the responses.

Thanks Carrie! I was wondering if it really mattered what kind of HRM. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for the tip, Ladybug. There is a lot of good info on here.
