Flax seed substitutes?

I had my gall bladder out a couple of months ago & one of my triggers for an attack was flax meal. I have tried flax meal again every so often since then and it still really upsets my stomach. Is there anything I can substitute when baking for flax meal? I really want to try a banana bread recipe but it calls for 3/4 cup of flax meal and it scares heck out of me.
