Someone on another weight loss site posted this article. What do you think about it? I've heard so much about everything boiling down to calories in vs. calories out for weight loss. I watch my macros as close as I can for health reasons, but are awesome macros the real answer to weight loss?

Awesome macros are the key to general well being, health, etc.

One gram of fat is still 9 calories. A calorie is a measurement of a unit of energy, nothing changes that.

Now your cardiovascular health differs greatly if all your grams of fat come from bacon (which is awesome) versus salmon (also awesome, but not bacon).

Brown rice has protein, so does Quinoa; however Quinoa has a complete amino acid profile whereas brown rice does not.

Nonetheless, humans are relatively fine tuned products of biology; barring weird medical issues we all consume energy, and will source that energy from calories we consume in the form of macronutrients, or calories we store on ourselves for later use.

My opinion is there will always be people arguing about it. Some swear it's just calories in vs out and other say it doesn't matter.
My advice is stop trying to overthink it. Eat whole foods, the least processed as possible (no artificial things added, no toxic preservatives), read labels, exercise, go out in the sun (80% of Americans are deficient in vitamin D). Do all this for your health and to thrive, just not to lose weight.
