My Metabolic Age is WHAT?!

Hi! I'm Raina and I'm somewhat 'new' to MFP! I joined a couple years ago and logged religiously for a year... I suffered from binge eating and a few other things, fell off track, and deleted my account. I came back a few months ago & have logged on and off but not daily.
In December 2011, I weighed my highest at 138.8 lbs. Hitting my personal rock bottom, I was given a gift from God and was able to stop by binge eating virtually over night. By March, I was down to 125 lbs & I'm still there, maintaining that weight. I feel better, that's for sure, but I kinda feel like the 'skinny fat girl' now. I never work out, I am a stay at home mom, so I'm on my feet a lot but I never went to a gym.
A week ago, my husband signed us up for a family membership at LifeTime Fitness. I was super excited, especially since they offered childcare for my little ones!
I've done a few classes but since it's been a week, I haven't seen results (obviously), I'm just sore.
Today, I had a health assessment scheduled with a personal trainer, just to see what my results were and get a good idea of where I was starting. We did pushups, reaches (for flexibility), treadmill for 5 minutes (for oxygen??), and body fat, bmi, etc. She sat me down and went over my results. My body fat was 23.9% which I thought was pretty high given my height (5'6) and weight (125)... My bmi was 20.9, and the shocker... My metabolic age was 45 years and 7 months.... I AM A 25 YEAR OLD WOMAN! I was soooo shocked to see that my body was that of a 45 year old (NOT SAYING THAT's ''''OLD'''' but, ya know! )
She said I mainly needed to focus on building lean muscle mass to get my flexibility & stats improved. She said that will help my body fat decrease as well... I guess my concern is what to do from here. Diet wise, exercise, etc. I feel like without my binging, I eat rather well... I usually net 1,200-1,700 cals/day. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

Try that test out and take the average.0 -
^ wait. are you seriously suggesting that she give a game that nintendo created the same weight she'd give a real life doctor?

OP,start working out with weights. ASAP.
you dont need to lose weight, so eat at your maintenance and start pushing some serious weight. no dvds where they focus on getting your heart rate up, but WEIGHTS
look up new rules of lifting for women or strong lifts0 -
THANK YOU0

I'd suggest continuing to workout - both aerobic (biking, running, swimming, Zumba, etc.) and lifting weights. I'm 41 and my metabolic age is 18 (5'7" and 128 pounds). I workout almost daily and do a variety of activities. You are on the right track with Lifetime Fitness (that's my club too!), so having the baseline tests is good. They'll point you in the right direction. Good luck!0

Try to find some sculpting videos. Crunch has a few good ones that I just started using.0

She said it was her personal trainer who did the assessment. More than likely he's just punching numbers into some random formula that rarely applies to everyone. Kind of like what the video game does lol.
I wouldn't focus too much on the metabolic age because its probably a gimmick to make you buy more sessions. Just lift heavy and also do something that gets your heart rate up. Try to get better than you were the day before and focus on that for progress, not just made up numbers.0
